Who I Am: The Animator Behind the Stick Figures
If you grew up watching stick figures fight their way across a computer screen, you already know my work. Here's a short guide to the animator behind the merch, for new viewers and old ones.
Where is Alan Becker from?
I'm Alan Becker, an American animator. I was born on May 18, 1989, in Dublin, Ohio, and studied at the Columbus College of Art and Design, graduating in 2013.
How did Animator vs. Animation start?
On June 3, 2006, I posted Animator vs. Animation on Newgrounds. The idea was simple and new: a stick figure comes to life on the animator's desktop and fights back against the cursor that drew it. The short took off on Newgrounds, and more episodes followed over the years.
How was the fourth episode made?
Animator vs. Animation IV was funded on Kickstarter. The campaign launched on July 10, 2013, reached its $10,000 goal on August 9, 2013, and the episode came out on YouTube on October 2, 2014.
Who are the stick figures?
The series grew a whole cast. The Second Coming, the orange figure, leads a crew of fighting stick figures: Red, Blue, Yellow and Green, each with a role of their own. On the other side stand villains like the red Dark Lord and his ViraBots, a virus shaped like red robotic spiders.
What about Animation vs. Minecraft?
The first Animation vs. Minecraft video went up on December 14, 2015, and grew into a series of its own, including Animation vs. Minecraft Shorts, where the crowned King Orange became a fan favourite.
